Alpha 1.0 (10/16/2024)
Welcome to the Alpha Stage of Development!
Firstly, let me briefly explain what this means. We have moved from Pre-Alpha to Alpha as the server is no longer in a ‘concept’ stage, while many features are underdeveloped or not implemented yet, most of the features are tangible and in a somewhat working state. Nations, for the most part, are ready, custom mobs and items, while they’re not done, work, and our custom map is almost perfected. There is still a long road ahead, and while this is still a huge step, I want to emphasize that we are nowhere near release yet.
Updates:
We have a name!
- The server is no longer a guessing game on what I am going to call it, while in the past I’ve teeter-tottered on different names, such as Mythren, I have finally decided to finalize the server name. I’m proud to welcome you to the Realm of Elderna! or just Elderna, for short. This is reflected in our website name, more on that in a minute ;)!
New Mobs + Tier System
- I’ve added many new mobs, and have finished my tier system idea I had. Mobs’ difficulty/rareness will be determined using ‘skulls’ which are next to their display names. Some mobs, like our custom chicken and cow, will not have a custom display name, as they are tier one and are passive. They are indistinguishable from default mobs, but still have a chance to drop custom items.
Anti-Cheat Updated: - Our AntiCheat has been updated and equipped to handle all the needs of the server!
An Economy! - While the economy is definitely the least fledged out (it for the most part has to be, as I need to know how everything else hooks into it first), it still is going along very well! It shouldn’t be hard to finish once everything else is up and running, and we even have a live auction house!
Wikis: - We have wikis, located within our Discord (they will soon populate with tips and information!) for all of you who need help!
A Website: - We also have a website now! As I hinted before, our website will cover most of the basic server info, and it may also contain the wiki information (we will see about that though)! Head over to https://elderna.com/ for all of the new server news!
New Logo! - As you guys have probably seen by the Minecraft server icon, or the Discord server icon, our server has a new logo! If you can’t tell, it’s a cloverleaf, showing the four main colors of the server!
New Hardware: - Our server is now running on an Intel i9-9900K, which is a huge improvement over our old server specs. This hopefully should improve server performance and improve overall user experiences!
Other Improvements: - Contrary to popular belief, we don’t only make big changes! Running a server well takes many small adjustments, which we have done plenty of!

Pre-Alpha 0.04:
so, uh, I thought I did more than I did…
Today, we spent 6 and a half hours figuring out how to make custom mob drop custom items that do custom things! Custom!
Added Elder Zombies and Magical Chickens:
- Today, I added two custom mobs, the Elder Zombie is a slightly slower and slightly stronger version of the zombie. It has a 0.05% chance to drop its leggings — Elder Pants. The magical chicken is a chicken, with normal chicken drops, but it also has a 0.012% chance to drop the Whisperplume, a brand new item with its own unique properties.
Added Elder Pants and the Whisperplume:
- As mentioned before, we added two new items! Firstly, we added the Elder Pants. These leggings, when worn, grant the wearer Resistance 1 and Slowness 2. They are leather, with no other attributes. Our second item, is a feather called Whisperplume. When held, this feather grants the beholder slow falling 3, so having it in your hotbar may become a useful idea.
Updated the Server to 1.20.6: - This is mainly so I can enable Java 21 and have a more smooth server experience. This allows me to use more plugins and run the server better, plus, 1.20.4 was an odd version to be stuck on anyway.
Added ViaVersion: - This plugin will allow people from newer versions (versions above 1.20.6) to join the server, eliminating new players’ struggles to join. It is still recommended for regular players to use 1.20.6.
Various other optimizations and Improvements:
- I did so much random backend stuff, such as just doing slight optimizations to each plugin, or fixing small errors. This should make the server both run smoother now, but also stop me from having headaches when something would mess up due to these unoptimized features in the future.
